WOAM SUPPORTS THE SINGAPORE COMMITTEE FOR UN WOMEN
"Women have the right to live their lives free from violence in all its forms. It is incumbent upon all of us to create an environment where this objective can be achieved."
Dr. Julian Robert Hunte, UN General Assembly President, 2003 - 2004
We are steadfast supporters of the Singapore Committee for UN Women, and our mission is to continue to encourage society to sit up and pay attention to grave issues, such as violence against women and human trafficking, in particular, and work towards improving the condition of women in Singapore and in the Asia region especially.
The UN works directly with the Singapore government’s Inter-Agency Taskforce on Trafficking-in-Persons and is a leading advocate against human trafficking in Singapore. As of today their work has impacted over 99,000 people, they have also been instrumental in getting over a hundred thousand petitions signed as part of the Body Shop STOP Sex trafficking of Children and Young People campaign. Our fundraising efforts help support these particular projects targetting the flow of human trafficking.
